Pinus sibirica

Pinus sibirica, commonly known as Siberian stone pine, grows in some of the coldest parts of Asia. The trees are found across Siberia, the Altai Mountains, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and parts of northern China. They can survive extremely harsh winters, with temperatures dropping well below freezing for long periods.

For centuries, people living in these regions have collected pine nuts as a source of food. They were traditionally eaten whole or pressed for their oil, which was widely used in Siberian cooking.

Siberian pine nuts are fairly small, usually round or slightly oval, with a pale cream colour. Their flavour is mild and nutty, with a soft, buttery texture. They’re also noticeably smaller and more rounded than Pinus koraiensis kernels.

These days, you’ll find Siberian pine nuts in all sorts of food products, from pesto and sauces to bread, pastries, confectionery and ready-made meals.

At Bio Group, we supply Pinus sibirica 950 kernels to food manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors across Europe. We source them from China, Mongolia and Kazakhstan and can offer both conventional and organic varieties, depending on availability.
